What Participants Have Said About Our Coaches Workshop...
"As a County Board we have become more aware of the growing number of people within the game who are affected with mental illness and having heard numerous positive reports on Opening Up and the benefits of raising awareness amongst those involved in the game we decided that it would be both beneficial and morally correct to book a session.
The subject matter obviously creates a culture of nervousness, but the workshop was very relaxed and informative, and delivered in an interactive manner with a positive feel, and feedback from all who attended was that it was extremely helpful in understanding the complexity of mental illness but also that it shouldn’t be a barrier to those affected becoming involved in the game and having a positive experience, and how participation can actually benefit both our coaches and people affected by this illness.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this workshop to coaches/County Boards as it really opens the mind to the challenges those affected face, but also how recognising and understanding these challenges, and offering support not only helps those affected and can have a real positive impact, but also impacts positively on the coach."
